Harriet Burns Stieff

We were put in contact with Harriet Burns Stieff through the Historical Society of Sarasota County (HSOSC). Early on in the website’s creation, we emailed HSOSC, where Joy interned during summer 2014, asking if they had any resources on Sarasota during the Great War. A reply came with Mrs. Stieff’s phone number and the assurance that she, a board member for HSOSC, would love to help out. When we called her and explained our project, Mrs. Stieff immediately invited us to her home to explore her collection and talk with her about her life. One of the children of Owen Burns, a key developer in Sarasota during and after the Great War, Mrs. Stieff provided us with invaluable stories and materials from the time period.

Here is a comprehensive collection of the video interviews with Harriet Burns Stieff placed around the website.
